How Costumes and Clothing can Communicate and Image or Feeling
There are many ways costumes can help communicate the personality of a character. First, you could have a costume piece that communicates a characters wealth by either making them were raggedy clothes to make them look poor or making them wear high class suits and dresses to show that the character is wealthily. Another thing you could do is portray the characters current emotion. A person wearing all black nice clothes might look sad or like they're going to a funeral were as someone wearing bright colors might be happy or feeling like getting attention. Costumes also communicate to their audience the period of time that the show takes place. It doesn't make sense to dress a character in 50s poodle skirts if they are from the 1800s.
